On May 8–9, 2025, the partners of the GREENMO project convened in Sliema, Malta, for their 3rd in-person Project Meeting. Hosted by the University of Malta, the two-day event brought together representatives from all partner organizations to review progress, share knowledge, and shape the next steps in developing sustainable and inclusive mobility hubs across the Mediterranean.
The meeting opened with a welcome session setting the tone and objectives of the gathering. This was followed by an interactive workshop on mobility hub governance, led by Bax & Company. The session explored how local and regional governance frameworks can support the planning and implementation of mobility hubs — a cornerstone of GREENMO’s mission.
The University of West Attica (UniWA) provided a comprehensive overview of the project’s current status, highlighting key achievements and areas requiring further attention. The University of Malta (UM) and the University of Cyprus (UCY) presented early findings from stakeholder interviews and citizen engagement activities under Work Package 2, helping to uncover both top-down and grassroots mobility needs. These discussions laid the groundwork for future comparative analysis across the participating cities.
In the afternoon, the City of Ljubuški introduced the project’s approach to carbon footprint monitoring, while UniWA, as Lead Partner, facilitated sessions on financial and legal matters to ensure alignment and strategic oversight. The day concluded with a field visit organized by UM, offering participants a hands-on look at local mobility infrastructure. The evening wrapped up with a networking dinner, strengthening the ties within the consortium.
Day 2 began with a focused session on project communication, including updates on the website, social media activities, and opportunities for external engagement, led by UniWA. ALOT followed with insights on the Results Amplification Strategy and the project’s interaction with the Green Living Areas (GLA) community, highlighting opportunities for replication and upscaling.
A second workshop centered on co-developing the upcoming GREENMO strategy, with partners collaborating on defining the shared vision, structure, and key thematic areas of the strategy. Particular attention was given to ensuring the strategy reflects regional specificities while supporting stakeholder uptake. Discussions also addressed quality management, upcoming tasks, and common implementation challenges.
The meeting concluded with a wrap-up session led jointly by UniWA and UM, summarizing key outcomes and confirming the action plan for the months ahead. A shared task list and plans for the next project meeting were agreed upon in plenary.
As the GREENMO project moves forward, the strong commitment and collaboration of all partners continue to drive the development of inclusive, resilient, and sustainable mobility hub solutions tailored to the needs of Mediterranean communities. This meeting marked an important milestone — fully harnessed to align strategies and reinforce our collective momentum.
