The Unit of Safe and Sustainable Mobility consists of qualified scientists, scholars, academics and researchers, with extensive experience in all areas of transport science.
As part of the INTEREST laboratory at the University of West Attica (UniWA), the unit of Safe and Sustainable Mobility is dedicated to multidisciplinary, applied research in transport safety, smart mobility and inclusive transport planning. Within the INTEREST framework, the Unit designs and tests innovative interventions, ranging from last-mile delivery behaviour to adaptive mobility in island and rural settings, through real-world pilots and stakeholder engagement. By integrating intelligent transport systems (ITS), geographic information systems (GIS) spatial analysis, and human-centred approaches, the unit of Safe and Sustainable Mobility supports evidence-based policymaking at the national and European levels.
The fields of interest/expertise of the unit of “Safe and Sustainable Mobility” of the Laboratory are:
- Road safety
- Transport planning
- Human factors and driving behaviour
- Assessment of safe driving behaviour
- Promoting health and driving performance (elderly drivers/cerebral diseases)
- Sustainable, green, blue, smart mobility (urban-rural-seasonal)
- Accessibility of people with reduced mobility
